The Challenges

In 2022, we were tasked with supporting a website relaunch. For A1 Digital, it was important not only to oversee the technical implementation but also to ensure that no relevant traffic was lost.
In 2023, the primary goal was to establish strategic foundations for building the SEO channel. Advancing the development of SEO performance was also a key focus.
In 2024, the priority shifted to unlocking potential and generating relevant traffic.
Since 2025, it has been essential to execute and scale the processes that were previously established. Additionally, due to the growing influence of LLMs, the question of GEO became increasingly important.

The Collaboration

In 2022, we were commissioned to support the relaunch. This was first prepared with great care. We defined requirements that would enable strong SEO performance in later stages. Before the site went live, we thoroughly tested the staging environment and approved it after several rounds of optimization. In addition, we prepared the redirect mapping to ensure a smooth transfer of existing rankings. Outdated and irrelevant content was removed in the process. Although this led to a loss of traffic, it was an intentional decision, as that traffic did not significantly contribute to lead generation.

In the following phase, the main priority was to align A1 Digital’s internal stakeholders around the shared objectives. Optimizing the website for improved search engine visibility often requires fundamental changes, such as restructuring the information architecture or redesigning landing pages. Internal processes—such as content creation and publication—also frequently need to be redefined. We achieved the necessary commitment primarily through three approaches:

  • SEO training sessions for stakeholders to establish a shared, foundational understanding of the channel, its impact, and its potential
  • Development of a business case that made SEO-driven growth opportunities tangible and measurable
  • Publication of a small number of “optimized” content pieces as a test project to clearly demonstrate the forecasted potential

In 2024 and 2025, together with our internal contacts, we were given the opportunity to optimize the website according to our strategic vision. Although this initially required a high level of coordination, this effort steadily decreased as we gained a clearer understanding of what was important to the company. To date, we have successfully implemented the following measures:


  • Creation of new landing pages in German and English
  • Creation of blog articles in German and English
  • Resolution of keyword cannibalization issues and optimization of content for improved user interaction
  • Fixing major technical issues with further focus on page speed, internal linking, sitemap optimization, and other quick wins
  • Redesign of the landing page structure
  • Adjustment of the main navigation
  • Implementation of GEO measures
